MIDDLE ATLANTIC
MOTOCROSS ASSOCIATION
POINTS SYSTEM
& AWARDS
1. Any rider who had 300 advancement points in their class at the end
of last season will be advanced to the next higher class.
2. The MAMA Board of Directors has reviewed the points system and we
are returning to the old Points System. In order to advance from a Novice
( C ) rider to a Support ( B ) rider, a member must accumulate 450 points
in the Novice class. To advance from a Support ( B ) rider to an Expert
( A ) rider, a member must accumulate 450 points in the Support class.
No advancement points will be carried forward with you to the next class.
3. Plate Number Points will be accumulated during the season to establish
your overall position in your class for the end of year banquet awards.
4. Three or more riders will constitute a class for the purpose of advancement points. Two riders are required for one trophy and plate points. No riders may be moved to a higher class to form the class.
5. Advancement points will be cut off after the September 14th race.
After this race you will not be required to move to the next class.
6. A rider must attend a minimum of 12 races to be eligible for end of year
awards. As long as a rider has 12 races in they will be eligible for awards
even if they switched bikes during the year. The final championship positions will be determined from among the eligible riders who participate
in the minimum number of MAMA events. If an event is cancelled, it will
be treated as a “non-event”. Specifically, it may not be used in any manner
to determine a rider’s point standings. Tie breakers will be determined by
the number of first place finished followed by the number of second, thirds,
and so on until the tie is broken. All motos will be used to calculate the number of first place finishes for tie breakers.
7. All advancement points must be earned in the top 33% of the class before advancing to the next highest classification.
